FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Dogs & Cats

FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Dogs & Cats

FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Dogs & Cats Reviews

I have a Jack Russell Terrier and a Rat Terrier. Both have that short wiry hair that sticks to EVERYTHING, and they make little hair cobwebs throughout our home as well. Brushing wasn’t working, frequent washing wasn’t working. It was too expensive to buy this furminator treatment and have both dogs groomed too. I was at my wit’s end.

I purchased the small blue Furminator tool with 1.7 inch blade along with the Furminator Shampoo and Furminator Solution. I washed both dogs with the shampoo for 5 minutes each as directed. The shampoo smells like Pina Coladas which made the Rat Terrier lick-this is bad as soap does upset dog tummies. But a TON of hair came off of both dogs after the shampoo, about a fist-full each. Next, I slathered them up with the solution, which smells like roses or some other floral scent and left that on for 5 minutes. Again, another fistfull of hair came out with the rinse! I allowed both dogs a couple of hours to dry all the way, then came back and used this tool. The Rat Terrier wouldn’t go for it, he hates all brushes. But the Jack Russell Terrier loves being brushed and let me go over her whole body except the sensitive areas with the tool. And let me tell you, I got a wad of superfine undercoat fur the size of her head off of that dog. And the only hair she’s leaving around the house is hair that was already all over the place prior to the Furminator treatment. I don’t get hair flying off her when petting her anymore, and even the Rat Terrier that wouldn’t let me use the tool on him is still not putting out a lot of shedding.
I used this on my German Shepherd dog and it works very well. My only gripe with the product is is consistancy. It’s not what you would expect a shampoo to be, more like gel toothpaste. If you squeeze it straight onto the animal, it will not stick to the fur. I lost a good bit of it down the drain at first until I figured out how to work with it.

The scent of this stuff is phenominal – not at all like a medicated or coal tar style shampoo. The dog looks shiny and great. I can’t say specifically if the shampoo alone has cut down on her shedding. I used it (two wash-rinse-soak cycles) together with the conditioner and furminator tool and the combined results are wonderful.
I have a pug and they shed a lot. I had bought the Furminator deshedding tool and it was a great gadget. I recommend it. This shampoo is worthless. It does not stop shedding, not even a little. A look at the ingredients shows that is nothing more than your basic shampoo with some useless herbal junk thrown in with heavy fragrance. Don’t waste your money on this overpriced detergent.

FURminator deShedding Tool with 1-3/4-Inch Edge for Cats

FURminator deShedding Tool with 1-3/4-Inch Edge for Cats

FURminator deShedding Tool with 1-3/4-Inch Edge for Cats Reviews

After 17 years of short haired cats, a starved looking long haired cat decided it was time to leave the streets and move onto my front porch and back deck. A couple of weeks later, she had a name, a clean bill of health and a home — and I had my first long haired cat. I also had a house full of black and white cat hair. After being told about the FURminator, I ordered the small size (now marketed with a different color handle as a cat model) with more than a degree of skepticism. Boy was I wrong. I use this on Gypsy a couple of times a week and it has eliminated the shedding problem. She enjoys being brushed and the amount of undercoat it removes is simply unbelievable. I demonstrated it to a neighbor with a Maine Coon and she immediately ordered one. Even my 15 year old short hair enjoys being brushed and while not as dramatic as the case of the long haired cat, the amount of fur removed is impressive. In both cases, the cat’s coats are left sleek and shiny and they don’t have hairball issues. I would advise people to run a flea comb through their cats coat after using the FURminator just to remove all of the dislodged fur.
I was sold on the Zoom Groom for all four of my cats til we tried the Furminator on a friend’s recommendation. I thought the cost was a lot–but there is a guarantee, so figured the Furminator was worth a try.

My 18 year old Exotic shorthair, Rambo, loved it and he hates just about everything. (He earned his name) He sat still long enough for us to groom a whole cat off of him–and better yet, he doesn’t run when one of us picks up the tool.

Our thick-coated tabby also liked the furminator. She tolerates grooming fairly well, but her coat just explodes at shedding time. She’d been recently groomed with the Zoom Groom and still we got a LOT of hair off of her.

Now, my two suede coated Siamese don’t care that much for the tool. Heather, who is normally pretty laid back, resisted. We got very little hair off of her–so the Zoom Groom works for her–and she likes it, so we’ll stick with it. Same with her brother.

Still, the tool is well worth the price if it will help keep our senior cat clean. he doesn’t care for the hairball remedies and grooming is the only preventative we can use.
My little kitty has a dense undercoat. I’ve tried other brushes on her, but they don’t do much. Just like the picture on the item, this special comb gets to the undercoat and pulls up clouds of fur. It’s not sharp (although you shouldn’t rake the kitty with it). The cat enjoyed it, and I’m glad that we tried it outside on the porch rather than in the house . . . use it somewhere where you can sweep up. Remains to be seen if it reduces shedding as advertised, but I can’t see what she would have left to shed.

Sterling Silver Pave Cubic Zirconia & Freshwater Cultured Pearl Chandelier Earrings Reviews

I was a bit afraid of a super-large set of earrings after reading the previous reviews, and a little leery before trying them on, but they are just the right size and quite beautiful.

When I showed them to a couple friends, one of the remarks was: “That is the most beautiful set of bridal earrings I’ve ever seen!”
I LOVE these, I literally swooned when I saw them! They have a vintage feel and are perfect for my wedding. They are a bit large so not for the faint of heart!
These are beautiful earrings. Beautifully detailed and elegant. The only negative-they are a little large and bulky. They are slightly heavier than I would have liked them to be. But that is the nature of sterling and pearls. I still enjoy wearing them and I get a lot of compliments.

PearlsOnly Heart Black 9-10mm AA Freshwater Sterling Silver Pearl Pendant

PearlsOnly Heart Black 9-10mm AA Freshwater Sterling Silver Pearl Pendant Reviews

1 This item is very small compared to the enlarged picture they show. To see the details you need to get very close to it. Since the picture shows it as something that shold stand out…well it doesnt at all.
2 The item looks very cheap and really not worth the price. If i could price this item it would be 5 to 10 dollars.
3 When you wear the pendant it bends inwards every time you move. Unless youre planning to stay still like a mummy when wearing it.
4 The chain is very cheap as well and looks like it could break instantly. Which means i could risk loosing such an “expensive” pendant.
As a conclusion i do not recomend this item at all. If youre planning on presenting it to your girlfriend, im sorry but it will only make her look cheap. I bought this for my girl’s birthday and really regret spending such money on something so cheap and not as elegant and as good looking as the picture they show. You judge for yourself.
My husband bought me this necklace about a year ago. I still wear it very often, I love how elegant it looks.
It’s definitely not a typical looking necklace, so if you like to be more unique, or original than others, then this necklace is definitely for you.
The heart and chain are both very nice. Usually the chains are a bit too thin, but I was actually surprised with this one. The pearl is amazing also. Very round, very shiny, and it is centered wonderfully in the heart. I bought this with the matching earrings and they were a big hit. My girlfriend loved them and my mom looked like she would love a pair also. I will definitely buy from PearlsOnly again in the future, you get more than you pay for.

Sterling Silver 5.5-6mm Genuine Freshwater Cultured Peacock Pearl Necklace Bracelet & Stud Earrings Set Reviews

This pearl jewelry set is understated and elegant. I like to attach the bracelet to the necklace to make the necklace a little longer. The package arrived pretty quickly.
For the money these pearls are great. I have a couple strands of better quality pearls, but I find these pearls are very nice to wear also. The pearls are not top quality, they are $10.00 pearls. But for the money They look better than I thought they would. I will order more in other colors.
I ordered five of the Freshwater Peacock Jewelry Set for my friends and I. We all loved it. We especially loved the beautiful colors that this set had came in. We can definitely wear this set out to dinner or just hanging with the rest of our friends watching a movie.
I have small features that are easly overwhelmed. This pearl set was exactly what i was looking for, small. Though not the highest quality they are fun and add a nice touch of class to my work outfits. And best of all the are just the right size for me. Pearls much bigger than this would be too big for my ears. I would definately recommend these for any one young or on a budget and wants attractive looking pearl jewelry.

10k White Gold Diamond 3-Stone Heart Pendant (1/10 cttw, I-J Color, I2-I3 Clarity), 18″ Reviews

I purchased this necklace for my daughters 13th birthday. She just loves it. It was a perfect gift.
great pendant for the price-looks much more expensive than it is, so that’s right up my alley. just change the chain cause it’s flimsy.
I like the product, the pendant was very nice, but smaller then I thought. The diamonds were as expected, one was nicer then the others but all were what I expected given the diamond rating. I didnt really like the back of it. [...]… it wasnt for me ha
I think is a great product but is smaller than what I was expecting. The other problem is that the chain is thin but I’ll change it. Anyways, for the price I think is a good deal!
This is a great pendant. But before you give it to your loved one or begin wearing it get a new chain for it. My wife’s chain broke after about a month or two of wearing it.
This is a very nice necklace but the chain is very thin and the pendant is kinda small. My girlfriend loves it and wears it everyday.
When I initially found this necklace I was searching something that had some diamonds that wasn’t too expensive but still would make my wife happy. Thats what I got, she loved it even thought it was smaller then i was expecting she still liked it. The chain is really thin and tangles easily and looks like it could break easily. This may be a problem for some people but it doesn’t bother my wife at all, she likes small chains. The pendant itself is a little bit smaller then a dime, and the chain is a little thicker than fishing line. Hope this info helps someone picture it better because the image makes it look a lot bigger. The chain can easily be swapped out for a thicker one and the pendant will still rest the same.
Product description is accurate, it is neither too big, or too small. It looks very good, yet simple when it hangs from my girlfriend’s neck. The only con is that the chain it brings is very thin and weak. Mine got tangled into a knot the first day and I had to break it, so plan on investing a few more $$ on a better chain.

very inexpensive, great watch for everday. Keeps good time, easy to read, nice large face. I bought 2 Casios ( 1 white, 1 black) since the price was so good. No bling but perfect for daily wear. Recommended.
When I got this watch I was so happy because it is actually nicer than the picture. It is very light and it is little big just the way I like it. It is perfect for everyday use and especially if you work at the hospital and you need to clearly see those hands. Anyway, I am happy, great purchase for the price!
This is simple, clean and light. I bought it for taking an exam. It served very well. It stands on the desk well and the numbers on its face are big enough to time the exam. After the exam, still I am wearing this watch. It looks nice with not-too formal outfits. A good deal for its price!
I sent this watch back to Amazon (and was never credited for the return) because it was so huge. It was much larger than it appeared in the photo and I thought that they had mistakingly sent me a man’s watch. It would have been just what I was looking for if it had been a little smaller.
This is a nice little simple watch that gets the job done. Not fancy at all, but it is practical. It looks just as it appears in the picture.

House Beautiful (2-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT]

House Beautiful (2-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

I just received my first two issues yesterday. This magazine is page after page of advertisements. The thing that really bugs me about that is – companys run the same advertisements in the same magazines again and again so two issues are virtually the magazine since there are very few articles.

For some reason even the articles in this magazine get lost because they have the same look as their ads. One article was suppose to be tips from over 125 top designers – what it really was – 125 designers listed with addresses and phone #s and a couple of tips on each page of that section.

I’m really disappointed. For a GREAT magazine, try Southern Living. For a REALLY GOOD magazine, try Better Homes and Gardens.
Of the many shelter magazines I subscribe to, this has to be in the top three. This magazine is a huge improvement over what it was even a few years ago. A good mix of freshened up traditional, fun, and not-too-concretey modern interiors. Not as funky as Domino, often more current and fun than Veranda and Southern Accents. More traditional (and liveable) than Dwell, and way less beige than uninspirational Architectural Digest. Less old-world than World of Interiors. House Beautiful features interiors you’d actually want to live in.
This magazine is a good source of inspiration … however, unless you are a professional interior designer, there is a strong likelihood that you will find this magazine intimidating, as I do … still, the photos are wonderful.

EatingWell [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT]

EatingWell [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT]

EatingWell [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

This magazine is like Prevention, there are articles on eating better, different foods and their nutritional value, and so on. I found them all well done and informative. I especially enjoyed in the last issue a large article on faux foods and the differences between getting a loaf of long shelf life bread, the kind most of us eat, or an artisan loaf of whole wheat and the points as to why we should pick the ones with actual food value over convienence.

Most cooking magazines have none to few articles on various topics. Eating Well truly means that – they’re telling you about eating well. If you’re looking for a magazine with some recipes and more articles that pertain solely to food and their health value then this is one you’ll want to check out. I found it a nice change of pace.

As stated in another review. There are very few ads which is amazing and very enjoyable.

They do have the ‘recipes that are different’ as I like to call it. They had an appetizer of a dried apricot half topped with crumbled blue cheese, pistachios, honey and a little pepper. It sounds interesting and I would probably try it, but I’m pretty sure I won’t make it. They did have some I will try out that looked delicious such as another appetizer of sliced beef wrapped around a dab of boursin and thin sliced peppers, sounds excellent.
‘ve got subscriptions to 3 cooking magazines (Eating Well, Bon Apetit, and Everyday Food), and this one is by FAR the most useful. I want healthy food but I also work long hours and can’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen. The recipes in Eating Well are tasty, easy to make, and creative. The ingredients can be found at any grocery store and are usually things I have on hand. I look forward to every issue to find out what new recipes we’ll be cooking up this month. I highly recommend it!
I spent a lot of time trying to pick a cooking/nutrition magazine to subscribe to, and this is the one. It has tons of great recipes, nice pictures, and interesting articles that don’t repeat the same old food/diet information I’ve read a hundred times. But probably the thing that sets this magazine apart the most is that compared to every other magazine I’ve looked at, there are BARELY ANY ADVERTISEMENTS. Nothing makes me feel more ripped off than to find that my magazine is about 40% full page ads. I’m so glad I found one that’s not like that.

Saveur [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT]

Saveur [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

I came across Saveur by accident, and initially I just flipped through it at the office, mostly for 5-10 seconds, and then put it down and went on with work.
Recently, I was back into cooking and reading about the culinary world big time, and viola, a stack of Saveur is still sitting there at the corner, piling up.

I gave it a thorough look through, and I was amazed how I have missed this little gem for such a long time, it has information about interesting ingredients, stories, histories, and more.

I definitely enjoyed the article on Salmon, and the reference by someone here about it being like the National Geographic for food, is definitely not too far off.

If you are like me, and like to know about things and not just looking to find recipes, this magazine will wow you.

Someone else said that it encourages travel, and I think that should be the way it is.

Think about it, even if you have the recipe for this interesting dish that you want to try, and lets say you found the ingredients, how do you know if it is going to be authentic?

I love travel and this magazine does adds my determination to go travel.
Saveur got a new Editor-in-Chief in 2006, when Colman Andrews (one of the original founding crew from the magazine’s inception) stepped down after long-running battles with the new corporate ownership (World Publications out of Winter Park Florida.) Andrews was a curmudgeon, and a brilliant iconoclast. For years, he refused to run an image of a turkey on the cover of the November issue, to the displeasure of the newsstand sales dept. He was replaced by James Oseland, a contributor and Associate Editor at the magazine (one of his first acts was to run a picture of a turkey on the cover of the November issue – get it?) Saveur has fallen on tough times. Since most ad budgets for the food category are gobbled up by Rachel Ray, Gourmet, BonAppetit, Food and Wine and the like, Saveur is left with table scraps, and issues are skinny. Photography and art direction have always been first rate, and Oseland builds on this tradition with his passion for food photos that border on pornography, they are so luscious) But a shift in focus from Andrews’ euro-centric vision to Oseland’s more pan-asian outlook (he is the author of an excellent book on Indonesian cuisine, “Spice Islands”) leaves something in translation as these themes don’t resonate as heartily with Saveur’s core audience. But he does seem to be attracting some younger, more urban readers. (Somehow, images of sweaty, grimy cooks behind-the-scene in a Bombay restaurant doesn’t stir my soul for Indian food, though.) There is one bright spot – a greater focus on Asia has lightened up Saveur’s previous artery-clogging fare. The editorial staff write for themselves mainly, so if you share their vision, then you’ll love Saveur. (A special issue in 2007 was all about Chicago for instance, which happens to be Oseland’s home town.) And other reviewers are spot-on about the recipes – if you don’t live in NYC, you’ll have trouble handily finding ingredients such as chicken feet, although they do reference websites for you to source things via mail-order. Wine coverage since Andrews left is scattershot and cursory – Oseland isn’t a wine drinker, and wine stories compete for precious editorial space in these lean times for magazine advertising. I give Saveur high marks for uniqueness. If you do subscribe, pair Saveur’s mineral, flinty undertones with a more practical, off-dry recipe holder such as Everyday with Rachel Ray or Southern Living.
I have been subscribing to this magazine for just over two years now and can easily say that Saveur is my favourite food magazine. I love the fact that it has such a strong international focus and brings in great visuals with each article. If you are looking for a magazine with loads and loads of recipes in it this might not be the magazine for you but if you are interested in reading well-written articles that may impart new knowledge and insights Saveur is the right fit. Of all the magzines I subscribe to this is definitely one of those magazines that I actually anticipate its arrival every month. Top quality magazine!

Sports Illustrated Kids (1-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

I hesitated before subscribing to this magazine on behalf of my son, mainly due to a vague sense of dread about how SIKids might handle the inevitable boorish behavior by various jock/celebs. Every week in the “older” version of SI, you read something about drug bust this, assault and battery that–and you wonder what effect the antics of these millionaire morons has on kids. Well, to my surprise (and relief), SIKids generally skirts this type of nonsense and focuses squarely on the achievements of great athletes. The layouts and photos are great and the writing never talks down to kids. Instead, the magazine seems to excel at delivering good, solid journalism that kids can actually appreciate and relate to. SIKids is a VERY good investment if your son or daughter loves sports!
This a fabulous sports magazine whiich features interviews, sports reporting, quizzes and games, and stories about professional as well as amateur (many of them young) athletes. The magazine is fun, factual, and age appropriate. In fact, I sometimes enjoy the purity of the stories, which evoke the joy of sports and elevate the human angle. Each issue also has a 2-page mini-poster, and lots of fun features that not only inform and entertain, but promote reading. One of the best gifts you can get for any young sports fan–but you may find yourself borrowing it!
Sports Illustrated for Kids is an excellent magazine for younger sports fans. In each issue you get collectible cards, the “Buzz Beamer” comic, trivia challenges, a calendar, a “What’s On TV” column and, of course, informative articles featuring athletes, plus so much more.

As a 14-year-old sports fan, I truly look forward to receiving this magazine every month because it’s so fun and interesting to read.

Cosmopolitan (1-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

This was my “first” grown-up girl magazine and I still share a fondness for it and usually buy it at least three or four times a year. My guess is in order to keep the cover price down, the mag is trying to cut corners on other importent areas like–paper quality. The magazine is printed on a lower quality paper than most–decreasing its’ durability and readability. Also, let’s face it–some of the writing is just not up to the same level of many competing magazines. The articles seem repetitive, simple-minded and without a lot of useful information. Let’s hope the “old gal” gets a quality “face-lift” and soon.
After casually flipping through Cosmo while waiting in line at the grocery store when I was in college, I finally decided to subscribe, and boy did I regret it. I was hoping to enjoy Cosmo as my monthly guilty pleasure, but what I got was an incredibly banal reading experience. The fashion, hair, and skin tips are not bad, but similar advice can easily be found in several better magazines.
Horrible experience that ended in disaster. My advice: DO NOT ORDER A MAGAZINE FROM AMAZON because it is impossible to change the information in time. I ordered this magazine for my daughter-in-law but mistakenly clicked before changing the shipping address. What a nightmare…and in the end, I canceled the entire subscription. It was simply impossible to contact Amazon as they are not set up to talk with anyone even though I noticed the mistake within minutes of ordering. Take my word for this ~ DO NOT COME TO AMAZON for such orders. They are simply not set up for to service the customers properly.
Cosmo however, became a cultural staple because of the promise of its cover teasers. Yet, for anyone over the age of 14, the articles that these teaser headlines offer are uninformative and generally useless. By the third month of my subscription I realized that if you read one issue of Cosmo, you really don’t need to read another one. They are all the same! Cosmo masquerades as an empowering lifestyle magazine for fashionable women in their 20s, but as a woman in that demographic, I found this magazine to be a colossal bore of recycled (not to mention really prosaic) sex-tips and retrograde advice that will set women back a good forty years. Needless to say, I did not renew my subscription. I subscribed to Self and Women’s Health instead, and am much more impressed with their overall content. I will however warn that Self and WH are low on beauty and fashion content, so I am thinking about subscribing to Glamour or Marie Claire to compensate for these shortcomings.

Glamour (1-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT]

Glamour (1-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

…I’ve been disappointed in many of the changes to the magazine since that time. More specifically, when long-time editor Ruth Whitney was replaced with the editor of Cosmopolitan (whose name I can’t recall), the magazine seemed to transform into “Cosmo light”: it was suddenly filled with articles on celebrities and sex, and some of my favorite features (such as the book recommendations) disappeared. I missed the more intelligent magazine of my earlier years and considered cancelling my subscription, but because I was still deriving some enjoyment from the entertainment features, I continued reading. A few years ago, a new editor, Cynthia Leive, took over, and since then, there has been another–although less dramatic–transformation. The celebrity and sex features are still there, but now they’re balanced by more intelligent articles (and yes, my book recommendations have returned!). This is still not the Glamour of old, but there is definitely hope for continued recovery of this once-great magazine.
I would give this zero stars if I could – I subscribed to this magazine for years, and with the editor changes came extreme disappointment and cancellation of my subscription. The formerly classy, liberated Glamour became the voyeristic, sex-obsessed Cosmo. Gone were the entertaining and frequently thought-provoking articles, replaced by articles of ridiculous fashion advice (sure, I can see wearing a midriff halter, micro-mini, and blazer to my bank job) and what men want us to do in bed, peppered with silly photos of lingerie-clad women rolling around in the sheets. I don’t dislike Cosmo, but if I wanted to read Cosmo, I’d read Cosmo – I no longer have that choice. Glamour used to have a sophisticated slant to it that felt like we were getting an edge – not anymore. I’m still disappointed, and I’m surprised more people aren’t that would suggest to Glamour to make the change back. Too bad for me, and a big step down for Glamour.
One of the greatest magazine editors ever, Ruth Whitney, made this magazine a must-read. In addition to the “10 Tips For Terrific Toenails”-type story (as Dave Barry once joked about Glamour), it had solid stories on women’s issues. There were also features that dared to go on for pages and pages.

Then Whitney was ousted and they brought in the editor of Cosmo. Bye-bye real content, hello sex obsession. That was the beauty of the old Glamour: The sex was there, but so were the terrific book reviews and stories on health. And back then, it was “gynecologist,” not “gyno,” as in the new Glamour shorthand.

Good Housekeeping (1-year) [MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] [PRINT] Reviews

Of all the magazines, this one has the best layout.

Whether you are looking for the latest news on your favorite star or are looking for a new recipe…this magazine has it all.

You know how many magazines say: “Oh, we are going to tell you about….” And five minutes later, you are still looking for “that” article. Well, in this magazine they have a great Contents page with a special: “On the Cover” section. So, if you want to read about Nicole Kidman she is on page 110! OK, that was in the November 2001 issue and it is quite a sad article. What ever happened to the fairy tale? I just don’t know…

Now, if you love reading about other people who are making the news, the People section always has something fun to read about. Fashion and beauty gives ideas on the latest nail color or makeup tips. The articles on relationships are interesting.

This magazine also has sections for: Health & Well Being, Consumer Sense, The Better Way, Food & Home, Fiction, Departments and Columns. The TECH section is always of interest. There is a definite focus on women, as in: “The Best Cell Phones for Women.” Plus, this is where you can find Heloise giving out the newest Household Tips.

My favorite page is the looks, trends, and news page where they always give you ideas for holidays or feature beauty products like Pumpkin Pie body wash in November. The recipes are often multicultural and you can find anything from Lebkuchen to Pavlova with Passion Fruit Sorbet.
I have received “ladies’magazines” for many years and keep coming back to GH. I am 57, single, have little reading time for pleasure and little interest in or time for walking through stores to keep up with products, new ideas, etc for women. I don’t’ even spend much time on the net for this information. I like GH’s reputation for quality (GH Seal of Approval and assessment of products), the price (it requires ads to sell the magazine at this low price in today’s market; GH passes some on to the customer by keeping the subscription cost low), and the timeliness and the variety of topics interesting women. And I enjoy the tidbits of celebrity information without excessively intimate details of their personal lives that have no impact on the reason I enjoy their performances/talent. It’s the only “overall” magazine of this kind that addresses things I want to know about on a consistent basis without becoming the same every month, which is something I don’t like about many other periodicals. I also enjoy the ads; otherwise, I would never know of foods, beauty aids, cooking techniques and equipment, fashions, shoes, books, etc. I look forward to getting my GH. When topics greatly interest me, I cut and file them. Also, when I finish with one while flying, I can always find another woman who is happy to take it on their flight.
As some of the youngsters say today, “It’s all good!”
Good Housekeeping is a wholesome, clean, serious magazine. Various topics that may be found in an issue – how to raise children, household tips, financial help, or marriage advice – suggest that the magazine is geared towards the middle-aged to the older woman. I’m married and only in my 20s, but I still get so much out of reading the articles and advice anyway.

I absolutely love this magazine! I was looking for a magazine with good, long articles to read, and I found this great one. They even re-designed the look, and it’s excellent. Everything is more organized, clearly separated into their respective sections, and each page is clearly marked with the section header so I’ll always know which section I’m on.

I particularly enjoy the articles about real-life triumphs and tragedies, Talk to Me by Joy Behar about relationship advice, and Peggy Post’s Etiquette Dilemmas.

I know this is a review for the mag – but so many comments on magazines are complaining about their arrival time (this one too) that it may be useful – ordered 4/11/08 – delivery estimate 7/11/08. First magazine arrived 5/5/08 – e.g. less than a month after ordering!

I have had Family Fun in the past. It is a really nicely done (Disney owned) magazine – hence the re-order. The one thing I like about this magazine is that you do not have to be rich to utilize most of their suggestions/ideas. The crafts are cute and usually realistic for the recommended ages. There are often ideas that are suitable for the whole 3+ family. Many issues have spotlights on travel and things to visit – they change location and don’t focus on all the hot spots all the time. For instance, I learned about Safari West – a Safari “zoo” near Santa Rosa, CA – not exactly a typical tourist trap (at least for kids). It does have a Disney slant – which can be a good thing (wholesome etc…) but don’t expect a great deal of focus on diversity or multicultural suggestions (e.g. activities/places to visit). Look at this magazine basically true to its title – focusing on things families can do together.
I first saw this magazine in doctors’ offices and browsed through it. I loved it and I don’t even have kids! I have given subscriptions as gifts to friends who do, though, and they love it. It has great – and simple – ideas for activities, recipes, advice, you name it. Give it a try, I think you’ll agree.
As a stay at home mom and the leader for my daughter’s Brownie troop, this magazine is worth every cent. Tons of games and craft ideas that are super cheap and lots of fun. There isn’t an article or idea that I skip. I have had a hard time with finding magazines that fit in my lifestyle lately. As much as I love some gossip and beauty ideas like every woman, my life is more geared towards raising my kids and having fun with them. I have found this magazine is great for all family life and it is something I can safely leave on the living room table. My 7yr old daughter flips thru for recipes and craft ideas too! The only other magazine that I love as much as this is All You. Highly recommend both for stay at home moms.
